About this race
Run With The Roses is a fun, family-friendly 5km road race held in Castlerea, County Roscommon, organised by Castlerea Crusaders AC in association with the annual Castlerea Rose Festival. Now in its second year, the 2026 edition takes place on Sunday 26 July at 10:30am. The course starts and finishes at The Hub in Castlerea Business Park (F45AC96), following a scenic loop through the historic demesne grounds and the peaceful Sunday morning streets of Castlerea town. The race offers prizes for the first three male and female finishers, with refreshments served in The Hub afterwards. Entry is €10 online or on the day. A 1km children's run with donation entry is also available on the day, with proceeds supporting the juvenile section of Castlerea Crusaders AC. Castlerea is a market town in the west of Roscommon in Ireland's Hidden Heartlands, close to Clonalis House, the ancestral home of the O'Conors of Connacht.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
