About this race
The Mayo AC 5k Series Race 4 is held at the picturesque Ballinrobe Racecourse, the only horse racing venue in Co. Mayo. Runners complete three laps of the racecourse's ambulance path, a flat, smooth surface that provides an ideal setting for fast finishes. The course is one of the most distinctive in the series, offering a unique running experience within a working racecourse perimeter overlooking Lough Carra. The event is chip timed and draws large numbers from clubs across Connacht. Registration is available online in advance and on the night from 6:30pm, with the series prizegiving and after party typically held at the Ballinrobe Racecourse Pavilion following the final race.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
