Elevation profile

About this race

The Mallusk 5 Mile Road Race, organised by Mallusk Harriers, is held at the Academy Club on Mallusk Road in County Antrim, typically in early August. The scenic but challenging course opens with a leg-burning climb up Sealstown Road, with elevation peaking around the two-mile mark before easing into a flowing downhill stretch along Boghill Road and finishing strong on Hydepark Road. Now a well-established staple of the local running calendar, the race includes a 1 mile fun run alongside the main event and has built a reputation as something of a rite of passage for runners in the area. Chip timed throughout, the event offers cash prizes across age categories along with the Newtownabbey Cup, a keenly contested club competition between Mallusk Harriers and Monkstown Spartans. All finishers receive a bespoke race medal to mark conquering Sealstown Hill.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
