About this race
The MSD 4 Mile Road Race is a fast road race around Clonmel in County Tipperary, run on a fully paved course on both sides of the River Suir. Starting on the south bank at the western end of the town, the route heads east along Coleville Road, then curves north-east away from the river. At the eastern end it turns north and crosses the Suir, then returns west on the north bank along Davis Road and the roads beside Richard Mulcahy Town Park, finishing on the western side of the town near Powerstown Road. The course is essentially flat, with only gentle undulations, and earlier race previews describe it as relatively flat and noted for fast times. Organised by Clonmel AC on St Stephen's Day and sponsored by MSD, it is a long-established fixture on the Christmas calendar.
