Gowran AC 4 Mile Road Race

The Gowran AC 4 Mile Road Race, registration is in the community hall with the start point just further back towards the village in Gowran, County Kilkenny, and finishes in the neighbouring village of Dunbell. The single-lap, point-to-point course runs entirely on tarmac country roads between the two villages, and is widely regarded as flat and fast, making it well suited to chasing a quick time. The race incorporates the Kilkenny County Novice Championship, drawing a strong club field from Kilkenny and the surrounding counties alongside newer runners taking on the championship distance for the first time. Organised by Gowran AC, the event is chip timed with prizes for the overall male and female winners as well as age category awards. Held in early September, it has quickly become a well-regarded fixture on the Leinster road racing calendar since its inaugural running, prized by regular racers for its genuinely quick, uncomplicated course.
