About this race

The Gortin 5k is a chip-timed road race starting at the entrance to St Patrick's Primary School on Main Street, Gortin, and finishing at the entrance to the Owenkillew Community Centre. The course follows the flat roads of the Owenkillew valley beneath the rolling hills of the Sperrin Mountains. The route is suitable for all abilities, including walkers and joggers, offering a relaxed alternative to the accompanying 5mile race on the same day. Organised by Gortin GAA Club and Omagh Harriers, the event takes place in the beautiful village of Gortin in Co. Tyrone and has a welcoming community atmosphere throughout.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Loop Course type
0m limit 5.0m Start/finish drop
0.17km limit 2.5km Start/finish separation
