About this race
The Tides & Strides Estuary Half Marathon starts and finishes at Labasheeda Community Centre on the Main Street of the village in County Clare. The out-and-back route follows the northern shores of the Shannon Estuary, taking runners along rolling coastal roads towards the gates of Cahircon and back again. The course is gently undulating with scenic views of the estuary throughout. Organised by Labasheeda Community Centre, the event provides well-stocked water stations and is fully marshalled by volunteers from the local community. Age category medals are awarded for 40+, 50+, 60+ and 65+ participants, and monetary prizes are on offer for the top three men and women finishers.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
