About this race
The Dune Run Bundoran 5k starts and finishes on the golden sands of Tullan Strand, offering an exhilarating coastal challenge in the heart of County Donegal. The out-and-back route takes participants along the stunning shoreline, providing a breathtaking backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean and the rugged cliffs of the Wild Atlantic Way. Runners will navigate a unique terrain composed entirely of beach sand, which offers a soft and natural surface that tests both agility and endurance. This fast-paced seaside run is framed by local landmarks such as the iconic Fairy Bridges and Wishing Chair, visible from the coastal approach.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
