About this race
The Armagh International Road Race's women's 3k is run on the same closed-road circuit around The Mall in Armagh city centre as the men's 5k, using a shorter number of laps of the flat, roughly 1.08km loop. Closed to traffic for the evening, the course runs along Mall East and the surrounding streets of the historic park, with runners completing the loop repeatedly rather than following a point-to-point route. The short, sheltered circuit and a deep, closely matched international field make it one of the most competitive women's 3k road races anywhere, regularly producing a large number of sub-9:30 finishers. Run after dark under floodlighting on a February evening as part of the wider Armagh International meeting, the race has become a key early-season fixture for Irish and international middle-distance athletes, alongside the men's 5k and a programme of juvenile races on the same Mall circuit.
