About this race

The Armagh International Road Race's men's 5k is run entirely on closed public roads around The Mall, a historic tree-lined park in the centre of Armagh city, with the course covering five laps of a roughly 1.08km loop. The flat, sheltered circuit uses Mall East and the surrounding streets, closed to traffic for the evening, with runners completing the same short loop repeatedly rather than a point-to-point route. The compact, enclosed layout and large, closely matched elite field are credited with producing exceptionally fast and competitive racing, with the event regularly billed as one of the fastest 5k road races in the world. Run after dark under floodlighting on a February evening, the race draws top international and Irish distance runners to chase fast times in a tightly packed pack. The same evening also hosts a women's 3k and a programme of juvenile races on the same Mall circuit.
