About this race

The Antrim Coast Half Marathon begins near the Sandy Bay Playing Fields and Larne Town Park, offering a world-class experience along Northern Ireland’s iconic coastline. The fast, flat course sweeps through the vibrant Larne Harbour and town center before moving onto the world-famous Antrim Coast Road. Runners enjoy breathtaking views of the Irish Sea on one side and rolling green hills on the other, passing notable landmarks like the historic Black Arch. The route follows a predominantly level tarmac surface as it reaches the picturesque turning point at Ballygally village. Participants then return along the scenic shorefront to a grand finish at the historic Chaine Memorial Tower.

Course profile & record eligibility

★ World Athletics Certified — Comp. Rule 31.21 compliant
Officially measured and certified by World Athletics.

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Loop Course type
14m limit 21.1m Start/finish drop
0.75km limit 10.5km Start/finish separation
Its own recorded data also satisfies both criteria — consistent with, but not the reason for, its official certification above.
