About this race

The Allihies 5 Mile Road Race starts and finishes near race HQ in the heart of Allihies village, on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork. The course is a two-lap, left-handed, anti-clockwise route that heads out towards the coast and down to Ballydonegan Strand, a striking silvery beach formed from the tailings of the village's 19th century copper mine, before climbing back up to the village to begin the second lap. The route is run entirely on open public roads, with rolling terrain reflecting the natural rise and fall of this dramatic stretch of Atlantic coastline. As one of the original two races that now form the wider Beara 5 Mile Series, alongside Bere Island and Eyeries, it's organised by the Allihies Hall Committee in conjunction with Beara AC, with all proceeds supporting local community projects in the village.
