About this race

The Tracton AC 4 Mile Road Race is held on a chip-timed, professionally measured course in the village of Minane Bridge, approximately 20km south of Cork city near Carrigaline. Race headquarters are at Tracton Arts and Community Centre, with the start and finish line located approximately 500 metres uphill from the venue — runners should allow around 15 minutes to walk up from HQ. The course follows scenic country roads in the south Cork countryside, skirting the stunning coastline of the area. The terrain is rolling with some undulation typical of the south Cork landscape. The route is run on quiet rural roads and is held under an Athletics Ireland permit. An evening race held in July, it attracts a strong field and has developed a loyal following since its launch. Cash prizes are offered across all main male and female categories.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
