About this race
The Lakes 10k is a chip-timed road race organised by Lakeshore Striders AC, now in its 18th year. Held on Saturday 12 September 2026 at 10:45am, the course starts and finishes on Red Lane in Blessington, near Educate Together National School, and takes runners on a loop around the beautiful Blessington Lakes in west County Wicklow. The course follows closed roads on a flat and fast circuit suitable for personal best attempts. In 2026 the event doubles as the Wicklow County 10k Championship. Cash prizes are offered for the top three male and female finishers, with medals for all. The race is less than thirty minutes from the M50 and draws runners from across Leinster each year.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
