About this race

The Galbally 5K takes place on a Sunday in July at Galbally Community Centre in the heart of County Tyrone, starting five minutes after the accompanying 5 mile race. The course shares the same rolling profile as its longer counterpart, with some climbs offset by extremely fast downhill sections. The race begins and ends at the community centre, where runners and walkers enjoy live entertainment and renowned local hospitality. Now one of the highlights of the Northern Ireland road racing calendar, the combined event draws well over 500 participants and continues to grow each year. A carnival atmosphere awaits at the finish line, with pizza and beer for all finishers, and excellent prize money is on offer across genders and age categories, including bonuses for course records.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
