About this race
The Splashworld 5K is the shorter distance option at the popular Friday evening race in Tramore, Co. Waterford, held in association with Tramore Athletic Club. Starting at 6:45pm from Splashworld on Railway Square, the course follows the same flat, fast out-and-back route as the 10K, taking runners along Tramore's famous seafront promenade before turning and returning to the finish. The course is widely regarded as one of the flattest and most PB-friendly 5K routes in Munster, and walkers are also welcome. The event is chip-timed with prizes across categories. A 10K race takes place on the same evening. Post-race, participants can use Splashworld's pool and changing facilities.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
