About this race
The Run Killarney 10k starts and finishes close to The Gleneagle Hotel on Muckross Road and follows a circular route that heads out along Muckross Road before entering the spectacular Killarney National Park. The course passes through some of the most scenic terrain in Ireland, with views of the lakes and woodland that characterise this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The surface is predominantly tarmac throughout. The course is noted for its natural beauty rather than being a flat PB course, with some undulating sections through the national park. Both this event and the accompanying half marathon are fully chip timed and consistently sell out well in advance of race day.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
