About this race
The Rhode AC 10k takes place on Saturday 19 September 2026 in Rhode, County Offaly. The course starts approximately one kilometre from Rhode National School on the new road and runs through Rathcobican towards Ballybryan. Just before Ballybrittian Bridge, runners join the scenic Grand Canal path and follow the towpath to the finish at the school lay-by. The route is entirely flat and follows tarmac roads and the canal path through the quiet Midlands landscape. Event HQ is Rhode Parish Hall. The 10k was the second distance introduced alongside the inaugural marathon in 2025 and is chip timed, open to runners of all abilities.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
