About this race
The Maugherow 10K Walk/Run is an annual event organised by Maugherow Community Partnership CLG, starting and finishing at Maugherow Community Hall in north County Sligo. The course follows a scenic loop of the Maugherow area, taking in Raghley Harbour before returning to the hall. The route runs along the beautiful coastline of north Sligo, with views of the Atlantic Ocean and the backdrop of Benbulben Mountain throughout. The terrain is on public roads and the course is largely flat to gently undulating, reflecting the coastal landscape of the peninsula. The event is open to walkers and runners of all abilities and is a popular summer evening fixture in the local community, with tea, coffee, refreshments, results and prize giving held at the hall afterwards.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
