About this race
The Luggacurren 10K is a long-established road race run through the village of Luggacurren and the surrounding countryside in County Laois. Organisers describe the course as scenic and genuinely challenging for athletes, following quiet country roads rather than a flat, closed-off circuit. Alongside the competitive race, a non-competitive 5K and 10K starts half an hour earlier, giving joggers and walkers the chance to take part at their own pace. Every entrant receives a souvenir t-shirt, with refreshments served for all afterwards. Team and category prizes are awarded across the field, and the event is sponsored locally by Dunne's Transport of Shanrath. Now well into its fourth decade, the Luggacurren 10K remains one of the longest-running road races in Laois, drawing strong club representation from across the county and beyond each September, regardless of the weather.
