About this race

The Kerry Way Ultra follows the full 200km loop of the Kerry Way around the Iveragh Peninsula, starting in Killarney and finishing at Killarney Racecourse. From the town centre the route heads through Killarney National Park past Muckross House and Torc Waterfall, climbing into the Black Valley and over the shoulder of the MacGillycuddy's Reeks before dropping to Glenbeigh on the Wild Atlantic Way. The course then traces the coast through Waterville, Caherdaniel and Sneem, taking in old butter roads, boggy mountain paths and stretches of the Ring of Kerry, before turning inland through Kenmare and returning to Killarney via the Old Kenmare Road through the National Park. Terrain is a mix of mountain passes, green trails, bog and country lanes, with only minimal sections of main road, and much of the route is unmarked beyond the Kerry Way's own waymarkers, run through at least one full night.
