About this race

The Keash King of the Hill 10k is an annual road race held on the last weekend of July in the village of Keash, County Sligo, in conjunction with the Garland Sunday festival weekend. Organised by Keash Parish, the 10k follows a demanding single-loop course around Keshcorran Hill, incorporating challenging climbs and rewarding descents, with breathtaking views of the surrounding Connacht countryside and the famous Caves of Keash carved into the limestone hillside. The course suits runners who enjoy a test of character over hilly terrain. A 5k race and 5k family walk are also offered, making this a popular community event for all levels of ability. Race headquarters is at Eastern Harps GAA Clubhouse in Keash. The Garland Sunday tradition has deep roots in the area and the King of the Hill adds a sporting centrepiece to what is a cherished annual festival in the Sligo-Roscommon border region. No confirmed 2026 date at time of writing; check the Keash King of the Hill Facebook page.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
