About this race

The Ireland West 10k is one of the shorter running options at the award-winning event hosted by Swinford Athletic Club in County Mayo, run alongside the rare ¾ marathon and a 5k. Race registration and headquarters are at Swinford Community Centre, just off the N5, with the course taking in the fast, scenic countryside of East Mayo. Run on quiet rural roads through peaceful farmland, the route shares the same picturesque setting that the longer distance is known for, near landmarks such as the River Moy. Relatively flat and fast by West of Ireland standards, it suits both club runners chasing a quick time and those stepping up from shorter distances. Chip-timed and well marshalled, the event offers cash prizes, trophies and a finisher's medal, along with a warm West of Ireland welcome and after-race hospitality back at headquarters.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
