About this race

This charity 10k takes place on Inishbofin Island, situated off the Connemara coast on the Wild Atlantic Way. The route starts and finishes at the Inishbofin Community Centre and follows the island's quiet roads through a mix of flat and gently inclined terrain. Runners pass pristine beaches, open bogland, and enjoy spectacular views of the Connemara mountains throughout. The road surface is tarmac throughout, with the course winding around the island's scenic roads. The race is held in aid of Down Syndrome Galway and registration includes a return ferry ticket from Cleggan pier and a post-race BBQ with live music. As a charity event, all participants are required to raise a minimum of €100 in sponsorship. The event welcomes runners of all abilities, from competitive athletes to walkers and joggers.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
