About this race
The Garden County 10k is an evening road race based in the village of Tinahely in south County Wicklow, set amid the scenic countryside of the county known as the Garden of Ireland. The course runs on beautiful quiet country roads on rural tarmac, offering a peaceful and attractive setting for runners, joggers and athletes, though unlike the accompanying 5k the 10k is not open to walkers. Registration is at Tinahely Community Hall, with an evening start time for a pleasant summer running experience through the rolling Wicklow landscape. Chip timed by Pop Up Races and organised by the Bling Hunters running group, the event features a choice of bespoke finisher medals and a warm, encouraging atmosphere. A virtual option is offered for those unable to attend on the day. With prizes for the leading men and women and a relaxed community feel, it has become a popular addition to the Wicklow summer racing calendar.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
