About this race
The Donaghadee 5k is organised by Dee Runners and starts from the Harbour in the seaside town of Donaghadee on the Ards Peninsula in County Down. The route takes runners along The Commons, a scenic coastal stretch, and around the iconic Port Devine lighthouse before returning to the Harbour. The course is Athletics NI certified and chip timed. The terrain is road-based throughout, and the course is generally flat with gentle undulations along the coastal sections. The race typically takes place on a summer Wednesday evening, attracting a strong local and regional field. It is a well-marshalled community event with proceeds supporting local charitable causes.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
