About this race
The Brandon Bay 10k is an out-and-back race run entirely on the sand of Brandon Bay in County Kerry. Starting and finishing at Fahamore in the Maharees, the course follows a 10km straight along the tidal beach to a halfway turnaround point. The terrain is predominantly flat and firm, though participants may navigate natural obstacles including small mountain streams and patches of softer sand depending on the tide.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
