About this race
The Finale is the third and closing race of the An Riocht 5k Series, held at the An Riocht athletics complex in Castleisland, County Kerry. Like the other races in the series, the 5k route runs largely on tarmac roads in and around the town before returning to the club's grounds, where runners complete the closing stretch on the venue's 400m running track for a distinctive track finish. The course is generally flat to gently undulating, typical of the roads surrounding Castleisland. The series has run for many years as a popular midweek fixture on the Kerry running calendar, drawing club athletes, couch-to-5k graduates and casual runners alike. Proceeds from the series go towards supporting grassroots athletics development in the county. As the final instalment of the three-week series, this race also decides age-category and series-long standings for regular participants.
