About this race
The Mayo.ie Western People Women's Mini Marathon is a women-only 10k road race held annually on the May Bank Holiday Sunday in Ballina, Co. Mayo. The course starts and finishes at Market Square, winding through Ballina town centre and crossing the River Moy twice. Runners pass the Mary Robinson Centre and St. Muredach's Cathedral before heading along the Killala Road and turning into the scenic Belleek Woods. The route then takes in the Bohernasup area with a notable hill before a fast return to the finish line at the Market Square and the renovated Innovation Quarter. The course is run entirely on tarmac roads.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
