About this race

The Great Rossa Run 10k is one of three distances at a popular annual running festival based in Ardboe, County Tyrone, on the western shores of Lough Neagh. The 10k course starts from around the centre of Ardboe and follows the rural roads of the loughshore area west of Ardboe Point, returning to finish at Ardboe Hall on Mullinahoe Road. The route takes runners through the quiet country roads characteristic of this part of Co. Tyrone. The course profile is undulating with some rolling terrain, though not heavily hilly. All routes at the event are professionally measured and hold Athletics NI certified course status. Organised in association with Ardboe O'Donovan Rossa GAC, the event has grown steadily over more than a decade and draws a large field from across the province.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
