About this race
The Streets of Galway 8k follows a scenic, single-loop paved course that serves as the "jewel in the crown" of road races in the West. Starting at Fr Griffin Road, the route winds through the medieval city center, passing landmark sites like Eyre Square, Galway Cathedral, and the University of Galway. The terrain is officially described as fast and flat, though it includes a few technical turns through the city's narrow historic streets and across the Salmon Weir Bridge. After navigating the urban center, runners head out to Salthill, passing Pearse Stadium before hitting a famously fast, wind-assisted stretch along the Promenade toward the finish at South Park in the Claddagh.
