About this race
The Newell 10k is an annual road race organised by Keep Er Lit Running Club in association with Newell Stores, starting from Main Street in Coalisland, Co. Tyrone. The flat, fast course runs through and around the streets of Coalisland on chip-timed, fully marshalled roads, making it a popular choice for competitive runners seeking a personal best. The event attracts large fields from across Northern Ireland and has become one of the most popular summer road races in the province. Total prize money of £1,000 is on offer, with chip timing for all finishers. Proceeds from the event support local charities. The 10k starts at 11am, fifteen minutes after the 5k. Participants must be 15 years of age or over on race day. Race headquarters and registration are on Main Street, Coalisland.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
