About this race
The inaugural Lough Key Legends Run 10k takes place in the stunning surroundings of Lough Key Forest and Activity Park in Co. Roscommon. The route winds through serene woodland paths, lakeside trails, and the park's iconic natural scenery, with only a very small road section. The course is largely trail surface through the forest park, offering a mix of flat and gently undulating terrain, with runners treated to views of Lough Key and its wooded islands throughout. This is a fully chip timed event supporting the North West Hospice as its chosen charity for 2026. All participants receive an official T-shirt, finisher medal, race bag, and free parking is included. Runners must be at least 16 years of age on race day.

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
