About this race
The Limerick Half Marathon (Great Limerick Run) is a single-loop road race that starts at Pery Square and finishes on O’Connell Street in the city center. The course navigates through the heart of Limerick, crossing the River Shannon via Sarsfield Bridge and passing landmarks such as the Gaelic Grounds and Thomond Park. The terrain is predominantly flat and paved, featuring a mix of urban streets and residential loops with a long, straight finish on the city's main thoroughfare.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
