About this race

The Karen Fenton Memorial 5k follows a single-loop paved road course starting in Ballinora and finishing near the local church gate. The route travels through the rural landscape of Waterfall, passing the 1km mark at O’Connor’s and the 2km mark near Hourihan’s Farm Shop. After reaching Jimmy’s Cross at 3km, the terrain continues through Sraleigh before returning to the village center.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Loop Course type
18m limit 5.0m Start/finish drop
0.41km limit 2.5km Start/finish separation
✗ Doesn't meet the course-profile criteria — net drop exceeds the World Athletics limit.
