About this race
The Irish Life Dublin Half Marathon takes place entirely within the historic and expansive grounds of Phoenix Park, offering one of the most scenic urban circuits in Europe. The single-loop course starts and finishes near the Phoenix Monument, guiding runners along the wide, tree-lined Chesterfield Avenue and past iconic landmarks like the Wellington Monument and Dublin Zoo. While the park provides a beautiful backdrop, the terrain can be testing, featuring a series of rolling hills and steady drags. Despite the undulations, the smooth tarmac roads and sheltered parkland avenues create a fantastic environment for a strong performance.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
