About this race

The Dromiskin 5k is an annual road race held on the roads of the picturesque village of Dromiskin in mid County Louth, approximately ten kilometres south of Dundalk. Jointly organised by St Peter's AC and the local GAA club St Joseph's GFC, the race takes place on a Saturday evening in September and consistently attracts over 600 finishers from clubs across Leinster and beyond. The course runs through the village roads and is widely regarded as flat and fast, making it a popular personal best course. The event is chip timed and AAI permitted, with participants receiving a long-sleeve top and medal. A celebrated post-race spread of homemade baking is a long-standing tradition, adding to its reputation as exceptional value and one of the best community races on the Irish calendar.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
