About this race

The Deadman's 5k is an evening road race organised by Carrick Road Runners AC in Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary. The course starts near the town's historic Ormonde Castle and heads up through the main street before turning north onto O'Mahoney Avenue and along a residential loop that leads onto Deadman's Lane, a quiet country road that gives the race its name. After a descent back into the outskirts of town, runners retrace part of the opening route to finish in a residential cul-de-sac. The course is considered challenging with some sustained climbing in the first half and a fast downhill return. The race forms part of the 3-Counties Series, attracting competitive club runners from across Tipperary, Waterford, and Kilkenny.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Loop Course type
5m limit 5.0m Start/finish drop
0.51km limit 2.5km Start/finish separation
