About this race
The Coleraine Campus 5k is a fast road circuit run entirely within the grounds of Ulster University's Cromore Road campus in Coleraine, County Londonderry. The course laps the campus roads, which are closed for the morning, providing a traffic-free and accurately measured circuit that has built a reputation as one of the quickest 5k races in the North. The flat, well-surfaced loop has previously hosted the NI and Ulster 5k Championship and is typically run as several waves grouped by target finishing time, attracting elite athletes chasing fast times as well as club runners and joggers. Organised by Springwell Running Club, with strong support from the university and use of the on-site sports centre facilities, the event raises funds for local charities. Its enclosed campus setting, friendly atmosphere and reputation for speed make it a standout fixture on the North Coast running calendar.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
