About this race
The Clare Burren 10k follows an entirely paved road route that starts and finishes on the seafront pier in Ballyvaughan. After departing the village, the course travels approximately one mile before turning right onto Fineona Road and then onto the Cappanawalla green road. The terrain features rolling elevation as it provides views of Aillwee Mountain and the coastline before reaching the turn-around point at Pinnacle Well. Participants return to the village via the Coast Road, maintaining a consistent tarmac surface throughout the distance.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
