About this race

The ALG5K is Ireland's largest city centre 5k, taking place in the Docklands area of Dublin on Tuesday 8 September 2026, with a 7.45pm start. Organised by Athletics Ireland in partnership with A&L Goodbody and held in the streets of the Docklands near City Quay, the flat, fast urban course runs through this modern riverside district along the north bank of the River Liffey. The event is chip timed and open to corporate teams of four as well as individual runners, with male, female and mixed team categories. Race numbers and t-shirts are collected in advance from The Spencer Hotel on Excise Walk. The event supports DePaul Ireland and Athletics Ireland's youth development programmes, and has grown to become one of the most prominent fixtures in the Irish corporate running calendar.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
