Elevation profile

About this race

The Achill Island Half Marathon is a circular road race starting and finishing in Keel village. It features significant climbs at mile 3.4 and mile 10. The terrain consists of paved roads that wind through coastal bogs and mountainous areas. The course elevation provides vantage points over the surrounding mountain ranges and local peatlands, with the final miles overlooking the Blue Flag beach at Keel.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Loop Course type
