About this race
The Streets of Killarney 5mile follows an entirely paved route that starts at Killarney House and Gardens and finishes on Beech Road in the town center. The first two miles navigate the scenic paths of the Killarney National Park (Demesne and Knockreer), passing landmarks like the Deenagh River and the Golden Gates. The final three miles consist of two laps through the town's central streets, including New Street and High Street, where local crowds typically gather to support runners. The route is described as fast and flat, providing a consistent tarmac surface throughout the circuit.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
