About this race

The Culmullen Run is a popular 5-mile road race through the quiet country roads of Culmullen in County Meath, returning on Sunday 24 May 2026 at 1:00pm. The scenic and varied course runs through glorious Meath countryside on traffic-calmed rural roads, featuring long downhills, short uphills, and tree-shaded grass-centred lanes that give the race a distinctive character. The start is located approximately one kilometre from the finish at the church. The course is chip timed and is described by organisers as a scenic challenge that suits runners of all levels, from those progressing beyond a Couch to 5K programme to those preparing for longer autumn events. Proceeds from the race benefit Culmullen National School, and home-made refreshments are served to all finishers after the race.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
