About this race
The Coast 10k starts from the village green in Killough, Co. Down, heading along Main Street before turning onto a peaceful country road towards Rossglass. At the halfway point near Rossglass, runners enjoy spectacular views of the Mourne Mountains sweeping down to the sea before turning back to retrace the route to the finish line on the village green. The course is flat and on quiet, fully marshalled rural roads. Positioned along the coastline of County Down with the Mourne Mountains as a backdrop, the race provides a scenic and memorable setting for runners of all abilities. Both the 10k and the half marathon share the same start area and race headquarters at Killough Community Hall. Running shoes are suitable for all terrain on the course.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
