About this race
The Streets of Kilkenny 5k follows a fast undulating, two-lap paved course that starts and finishes on The Parade, set against the historic backdrop of Kilkenny Castle. The route travels through the city's medieval center, heading down High Street and Parliament Street into Irishtown before crossing St. Francis Bridge. Runners then proceed along the Castlecomer New Road and John Street, crossing John’s Bridge to return via Rose Inn Street.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
