About this race

Rás na Rinne is a 6-mile road and beach race held on a summer evening in the Gaeltacht area of An Rinn, near Dungarvan in West Waterford. The race starts at the Barracks cross and heads downhill towards An Coinigéar strand. Runners head out along the tip of the Coinigéar beach, running on the sand side of the spit before turning and returning along the grass side, then rejoining the road for the final stretch back to the finish at the Barracks cross. The course mixes tarmac with firm sand and grass, giving an undulating profile with a fast downhill opening mile, a flatter middle section along the Cunnigar, and a tougher finish. Organised locally in An Rinn with Céim ar Chéim, the event has run for over three decades and remains a fixture on the West Waterford summer calendar, drawing runners and walkers to its scenic Gaeltacht setting.
