About this race

The Night of the 5k PBs is an evening road race held at Coral Leisure Arklow Sport Centre in Ferrybank, Arklow, County Wicklow, on Saturday 18 July 2026. The event is organised by Coral Leisure Arklow in aid of the Jack and Jill Foundation. The course follows a fast, flat looped route through the streets and roads around the heart of Arklow town, designed specifically for personal best attempts with paced groups available across a range from sub-20 to sub-30 minutes. Two races take place on the night: an elite 5k starting at 7pm, followed by a paced open race at 7:30pm. The paced race is open to recreational runners and walkers as well as competitive runners. Prizes are awarded to the first male and female finishers in both events, with spot prizes also on offer. The event aims to bring the Arklow running community together in a festive summer evening atmosphere.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Loop Course type
0m limit 5.0m Start/finish drop
0.19km limit 2.5km Start/finish separation
