About this race
The Hillsborough Castle Festival 10k is a multi-terrain race that starts and finishes within the grounds of Hillsborough Castle and Gardens in County Down. The course navigates through the historic parkland and past landmarks such as Hillsborough Lake and Hillsborough Fort before heading out onto the surrounding forest paths and closed rural roads, including Ballynahinch Road. The route follows an undulating profile and concludes with a final lap through the castle gardens to the finish line in the event village.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
