About this race
The Glenbeigh Glencar 10k is one of four distances at a scenic multi-race event organised by Glenbeigh Glencar GAA Club and Star of the Laune AC as part of the Glenbeigh Summer Festival in County Kerry. The 10k course runs on the roads around Glenbeigh village and the Caragh Lake area, showcasing some of the most spectacular scenery in Ireland. All distances finish at Glenbeigh Glencar GAA pitch. A shuttle bus operates from the finish line at the GAA pitch to the 10k start line. The route passes through the rolling roads of this part of south Kerry, with a challenging and hilly character reflecting the surrounding landscape. The event is open to walkers as well as runners and is fully inclusive in nature. It serves as a fundraiser for Glenbeigh Glencar GAA Club and Star of the Laune AC to support their facilities development.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
